Well-being


First, we need to comprehend well-being on a very basic level unless we don’t assess well-being independently on a mental, emotional & physical basis our overall concept of well-being would remain faulty. Because it is an integrated concept that could not be viewed on any individual criteria. Therefore, we couldn’t only focus on emotional well-being & if we do that we will be misaligned because our mental process is intelligence & our emotional is also intelligence along with our physical self is intelligence too.



When all these intelligence is combined with each other then we will be able to understand what well-being constituted. So in reality human-being have these different types of intelligence in overall beings. As there is a general perception among people intelligence is only a faculty of our mind. Hence we assess IQ level with different tests later on the concept of emotional intelligence become famous particularly in the corporate world in order to proceed in life with a more refined perspective EQ counts higher than your IQ. That signifies if you are such a smart person but you don’t know how to get along with your team the chances are you are not going to stick with that team very long. It is proven fact human beings are best when they work as a team & make an impact despite they could contribute their part individually. 

Combination of intelligence

Our emotions are also intelligence they also want to communicate something like our mental intelligence does like how much memory we could retain & recall etc. However, most people find it difficult to understand physical intelligence the example that is given in this regard is when you go to restaurants or any other place of eating & at your first glance at the food you instantly get this intuition you aren’t supposed to it that dish but you still go ahead & eat it & later on when your stomach gets upset or start vomiting you tell yourself I knew it before I shouldn’t have eaten that. Now the question is how did you come to know that? Apart from the human five senses, there is also a sense that is commonly known as “gut feel” for example sometimes it happens when you encounter a new person you get this feeling that you shouldn’t interact with him or the other way round.

So one more intelligence needs to be incorporated into this combination of the above three bits of intelligence since we live in a religiously conservative society & hence we follow science through faith whereas intelligence is something that you use but faith is something that uses you. It hijacks your ability to think about anything.

mental and physical health

We depend on science to the extent that whatever it hasn’t proved yet we completely discard it & science is something that is our five senses based on because science can only measure anything which could be confirmed by our five senses being empirical evidence. So in short science takes some time to detect anything but the intelligence that exists in human beings' emotions, and intuitions these bits of intelligence have been there way before science, therefore, the 4th intelligence that needs to be mentioned or incorporated in human overall intelligence is spiritual intelligence. So all these four bits of intelligence (Mental, Emotional, Physical & Spiritual) have to be aligned if you truly want to be experienced what well-being means. According to some philosophers, spirituality is neither believing something paranormal or anything invisible nor anyone having the liberty to define spirituality according to whatever fits his mindset whereas spirituality is very much acceptance of facts of life.

One example to understand spiritually it is famously said nobody lives in the world forever as human being we are mortal & one day we will return back from where we come from so the piece of land we own or house we purchase doesn’t belong to us but we belong to that piece of land or house it is a fact of life you don’t own your life & if we fail to understand it so we who needs to grow up & understand the intelligence of life that is working around us.

Happiness

The fourth aspect of well-being that is spirituality is optional if you want to pursue it hence it is not for everybody. Therefore, the basic level of intelligence which have to be analyzed physical, emotional & mental and be aligned in a complete integration or a complete sense of wellness now that indicates you understand & you are in processes of well-being (like if you are physically fit doesn’t have any disease it is not well-being) so well-being in a holistic way where your three different energies physical, emotional & mental work in harmony & they don’t collide with each other. So how do you know either of these bits of intelligence is in a collision? As you could see nowadays the trend of physical fitness is at its peak & people exercise, doing yoga, drinking protein shakes from one aspect it is a wonderful thing because taking care of your body is good because it is a first place you live & you need to look after it but if you only take care of your body & don’t pay heed on your mindset or mental hygiene as it is often seen people become so obsessed about their physical fitness they started losing other balance of their lives. Like their relationship suffer they don’t give proper time to their work or social life because they believe their priority is this. Another check that shows your bits of intelligence aren’t aligned when you say something & do something else indicates your mental intelligence is not united with your physical intelligence because your behavior is different in short when you become incongruent in your words & deeds don’t match & You start deceiving not only others but to yourself first however are you aware you do it on a conscious level or you do unconsciously?

Mental Fitness

Habit is the process that is unconscious & you trained your mind in such a way you don’t have to be conscious but you do it anyway because you are on autopilot the true idea of being congruent is to be conscious & you could differentiate between them of doing anything on a conscious or unconscious level? in this regard you have to see either you are reacting to or responding to it.  Like if you are reacting to it the power lies within the situation or whatever is outside & your reaction is directly proportionated to how misaligned you are with all your bits of intelligence because this reaction is coming from your habit unconsciously whereas responding is, whatever happens, is happened anyway but you choose how to respond on it is deliberate pause & you are involved in it else you mindlessly mess up your life.

There is a litmus test or exercise to understand where you stand on the scale of well-being. In this regard, you have to spend 24 hours without complaining about anything no matter what happens. So you will come to know how much mental agony you are going through because it is easy to point a finger & blame others or something. So well-being is a life of responsibility & it doesn’t exist outside it is entirely an inside job. So you need to take ownership of it because it is your intelligence if you are not in charge of them who is it then?  

Life without complaining

Through this exercise of not complaining you will come to know there is two way of spending a life either you accept responsibility or you find comfort in blaming others & there is no other third way. Life is the journey of learning & if we view life as our teacher because it teaches us everything that we need to know.

It entirely depends on us how receptive enough we are to understand it & we are the one who needs to create the capacity to learn.
